Quick review – new boss attempts on Zonozz

A quick update from our holy priest, Compensator (aka CL)   First up Heroic Morcok. Took a total of 4 attempts for us to get him down. The 3rd attempt was really close, we just lost people in team two as we were approaching the final push. Fourth attempt we downed him scoring healing boot for Brang and a lovely hit/crit caster ring. We then moved onto Heroic Zon’ozz. After 13 attempts we managed to get to the second orb three times I think, so we made small bits of progress and learning how the fight works. A long long way to go yet for us to manage to down that fight as the healing output required in fairly tough while requiring DPS spread over a large number of adds and the boss. As time was then running short we dropped down to normal mode and had a nice lazy kill.Continuing on normal mode so we would have time to finish the fight and do some heroic Ultraxion practise on Monday we went on over to Stitch and downed him easily, though a couple of times the third ooze got quite close.Flying up to fight Halgara I hurried through the portal first and ran to the orb and used my Direbrew’s Remote, before hurrying back to everyone else. Cats zoned in and made his way to the orb and clicked, then took an alternative trip to the Grim Guzzler instead. Commence team speak being filled with laughter. When Cats got back we killed Halgara nice and easily, mixing up our strategy during the lightning phase having the groups go...

And for the first time in a long time…

Heroic Morchok died last night.  I don’t remember a time when Southern Wardens were able to work on Heroic Content within the current patching level, and I have been here on and off for quite a few years.  I was so excited to start working on Heroic modes, and I hope that the team now has the smell of blood in their noses to keep working on Heroics for weeks to come.  It isn’t going to be easy, but I haven’t heard as big a cheer as I heard last night.  It really felt like we were getting somewhere and picking up the pace.  Completeness was definitely up for it, saying she now understood why I was so excited and pushing to do heroic content.  There is nothing quite like it in WoW.  It is SO satisfying.  So with the 15% nerf to the content, we walked Morchok and his friend to the grave with Cats’ 4 healer strat. Mithrya learned the true meaning of having a guild behind him last night, when it was pointed out (publically and for shaming purposes by me after being delegated by Cats’ who was informed by Az) that Mith didn’t have his gear gemmed or enchanted.  We all pulled together and got him gems, mats and buckles from the AH and got his gear as up to scratch as we would in about 20 minutes.  Mith still has a lot of rep grinding to do for his shoulder and head enchants, and raiding can be expensive when you gear up so quickly, but that’s where a guild comes in.  Investing in our...

The Oneshot Night

Last night, we had a few cracks at heroic Morchok – and we did improve. We didn’t start attempts till about 9pm, and we finished up at 930 to make sure we got the rest of DS finished. There was visible improvement over the 4 or so attempts we had.  We have the basic strat sorted, we just need to figure out what we need to do as a team to execute the strat correctly. We then went back to normal and laid some smack down on everyone. We one shot our way to Madness. Yes, you heard me, we one shot the entire instance in 2 hours. That, my friends, is progression. Deathchin will lose his chin again next raid (either Sunday or Monday) and our spare time will be spent having fun in retro...

Deathchin is CHINLESS

STOP PRESS!!! News just in from Azeroth – Deathchin has been defeated, the cataclysm averted and Aggra and Thrall are as sickening as ever. Also, Brangwen now has the opportunity to hit on Kalecgos and this makes her immeasurably happy. More news as it comes to...

Deathchin is Spineless

A great run last night saw us tearing all three backplates off Deathchin as he was rolling around trying to shake us off.  But we were not to be defeated!  Our intrepid raidleader Cats insisted we could manage this without Heroism, and he was right.  The kill attempt was smooth as butter, and everyone was slightly annoyed at Thrall for dumping Deathchin in the Maelstrom.  Weren’t we trying to STOP him going there? Oh well, never mind. Now we just have to give the Mad Bugger one last smackdown, and we will have cleared 4.3 normal content and ready to start heroics....

Progression update time

It has been some time since our last post here. Since then we have had some crazy changes within the guild, and while we were ironing those out, our WoW blog posts were a bit stagnant.  As you can probably see, SW:TOR has kicked into full swing, and this caused a bit of internal updating, shuffling, and general kerfuffle as people figured out what their “main” game was.  Some went to SW:TOR (including all the old WoW officers) and some stuck around with the long tail WoW has.  But all of us stayed with Southern Wardens – in fact, Southern Wardens has grown as a community! Officer Shakeup Southern Wardens in WoW is being run by a mostly new group of officers.  These officers are: Guildmaster Benalis Raidleader Catseyes PvP organiser Phyllixia Officer who didn’t step back fast enough Brangwen Old guard representative Tiggralisa The  previous WoW officership (of many many years) have mostly moved fulltime to SWTOR.   A half of them are now what we are calling Southern Wardens Community Officers (as well as SW:TOR officers) and some have hung up their officering boots altogether.  Once the dust settles, I am sure we will sort out the website to reflect all this change in a greater capacity than it does right now.  We really are still a guild work in progress. 10man Raiding Progress SW currently have a tight knit raiding team.  Given the shakeup of SW:TOR and the proximity to Christmas, 4.3 content was not really started by our raiding team until mid January, an unprecedented almost month and a half after the content was released....
