Dead: Firebrand & Stormcaller; Colonel Vorgoth

This post is overdue by two or three weeks, whoops! So after our glorious defeat of Zorn, Toth, and their incredibly annoying cheerleader Murdok, we moved deeper into Denova, through mountains of trash (seriously, find me a gamer that enjoys a half-hour trash clear between bosses, go on, try) before encountering Firebrand and Stormcaller, the pair of battletanks. Beating the tanks took us longer than many bosses, because they’re a mechanically complex fight with a lot to account for, and we’re still sticking with our no-spoilers approach to operations. That said, after testing various mechanics, refining our strat and perfecting our execution, the tanks died — that is, the battletanks died, not our tanks (although they died plenty too, I can tell you!). After that we moved on through the trenches of Instant Sniper Death to the next boss, Colonel Vorgoth. Let’s face it, everyone loves Minesweeper, right? Unfortunately I don’t have a picture of the kill shot yet, since I wasn’t in that night’s raid, but you can rest assured he died a glorious death. Next on the agenda for us: Consolidate our progress on EC normal mode Defeat the as-yet-unseen Kephess Start on EC Hard Mode Expand to 16-mans With that in mind, it’s time to mention that we’re recruiting again. We’re looking for people in all roles to expand our team to 16-mans. If you play in Aussie peak times and you’re on Dalborra, why not look us up? We’re friendly, and don’t bite! And the last piece of news for the week: we’d like to welcome a new SWTOR officer, Kristakiss, to the fold. Please...

Dead: HM Soa, HM Karagga’s Palace, Zorn & Toth

Well, it’s been a busy couple of weeks! Thanks to Uni assignment crunch time your humble correspondent has been a bit slack about posting, so here’s all the news that’s fit to print: First of all, we’re all settling in to our new home on Dalborra, and enjoying the low latency! Sub-50ms latency is a luxury we could definitely get used to. Secondly, progression news! Last week saw our first kill of Soa in hard mode, and this week we followed up by slaughtering our way through Karagga’s Palace on Hard Mode for the first time — all clear in one night! And in the meantime we’re enjoying the new raid zone, Explosive Conflict – despite the chaos of the server move, last week we killed Zorn & Toth for the first time, and we’re looking forward to exploring the rest of Denova soon. And finally, we’re recruiting for 16-mans! We’re definitely after a healer or two and some DPS; if you’re interested, please apply on our forums! We’re also still open for general/social members, so do check us...

We’re Moving to Dalborra!

With the advent of Asia Pacific servers and the launch of SWTOR in Australia, NZ, Singapore and Hong Kong, we’re busy making plans to transfer to our new Oceanic home – Dalborra, the first Asia Pacific PvE server. For now, we’ll be continuing to play on The Harbinger, since that’s where our endgame characters currently are. Once server transfers open in late April, we’ll be transferring our Republic guild to Dalborra lock, stock and barrel. We’re currently open for new members on both The Harbinger and Dalborra — if your character was created before February 28th and you plan to transfer, please come and join us on The Harbinger. Otherwise, we invite you to roll new characters with us on Dalborra in preparation for the rest of the guild’s arrival. If you’re not already a Southern Wardens member, please feel free to check out our forums and post a membership application & introduction...

Progression update time

It has been some time since our last post here. Since then we have had some crazy changes within the guild, and while we were ironing those out, our WoW blog posts were a bit stagnant.  As you can probably see, SW:TOR has kicked into full swing, and this caused a bit of internal updating, shuffling, and general kerfuffle as people figured out what their “main” game was.  Some went to SW:TOR (including all the old WoW officers) and some stuck around with the long tail WoW has.  But all of us stayed with Southern Wardens – in fact, Southern Wardens has grown as a community! Officer Shakeup Southern Wardens in WoW is being run by a mostly new group of officers.  These officers are: Guildmaster Benalis Raidleader Catseyes PvP organiser Phyllixia Officer who didn’t step back fast enough Brangwen Old guard representative Tiggralisa The  previous WoW officership (of many many years) have mostly moved fulltime to SWTOR.   A half of them are now what we are calling Southern Wardens Community Officers (as well as SW:TOR officers) and some have hung up their officering boots altogether.  Once the dust settles, I am sure we will sort out the website to reflect all this change in a greater capacity than it does right now.  We really are still a guild work in progress. 10man Raiding Progress SW currently have a tight knit raiding team.  Given the shakeup of SW:TOR and the proximity to Christmas, 4.3 content was not really started by our raiding team until mid January, an unprecedented almost month and a half after the content was released....

Our Server: The Harbinger

If you’re looking to join Southern Wardens, and you didn’t sign up with us in the Pre-Launch Guild HQ program, you can find us on The Harbinger. It’s a US-West PvE server, and is one of the two servers selected by the Oceanic community to be our home in SWTOR. See you...
