Welcome to the Southern Wardens community!

We’re an Australian-based MMO gaming community with branches in a number of MMORPGs. We’re made up of members from all walks of life; we share a love of gaming, a mature approach to our community, and a relaxed and laid-back attitude. If that sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you! Take a look around and learn more about us, or come and say hi on our forums.

Southern Wardens in WoW

We’ve been active in WoW since launch, and we play as a casual raiding guild on the US-Proudmoore server. We’ve raided actively in every expansion and we’re currently enjoying Warlords of Draenor. Looking for a new home in WoW? Whether you’re a keen raider or just looking for some company, we’re always on the lookout for more Wardens.

Our Community

We’re more than just a WoW guild – we’re a group of friends who’ve been gaming together since our formation in early 2004. Southern Wardens has had branches in LotRO, SWTOR, AoC, EVE Online, DCUO and more. Our casual branches vary in activity depending on what’s exciting us this month, but you’ll find Wardens all over the MMOiverse.

Our History

Southern Wardens (also known as SW) is an Australian/Oceanic MMO guild and gaming community. We’ve been around since early 2004, and we’ve tried numerous MMOs over the years.

Southern Wardens began in Star Wars Galaxies on the Valcyn server as a guild of Everquest veterans and friends, formed from the ashes of SWG’s Aurora Noctem and Southern Legion. When Everquest 2 and World of Warcraft were launched in November 2004 we founded branches of the guild in both games, on Najena and Proudmoore respectively. Our enthusiasm for WoW matched the growth of the WoW phenomenon, and since then we’ve spent most of our time in Azeroth.

When Star Wars: the Old Republic launched, we returned to our roots in the galaxy far, far away. We formed a major branch of the guild on The Harbinger, and moved to Dalborra when Oceanic servers launched. We successfully defeated several levels of raid content before winding down our SWTOR operations.

We’ve also had very active casual branches of the guild in Age of Conan, Lord of the Rings Online, and DC Universe Online, and many of our members also play other games like EVE and RIFT, although activity waxes and wanes depending on what’s happening in our primary games at the time.

We’re currently active and raiding in WoW, with casual activity in other shared games.

Our Expectations

Southern Wardens members are primarily mature gamers with extensive MMORPG experience. We aim for ‘casual achievement’; we know many of our guildies have very full lives and can’t afford to play an MMO seven nights a week (much as we might like to!). Our officers place a priority on having clear policies and treating all guildmembers fairly.

Our players have the flexibility to do their own thing as well as get involved in official and unofficial Guild events. We don’t require our members to participate in any specific events, but we do ask everyone to help contribute to the advancement of the guild and our fellow Wardens. In games where we’re actively raiding, members who wish to retain raider status need to fulfil raid attendance requirements, but we welcome social and casual members regardless of whether you raid or not.
