Heroic Yor’sahj is a bubbly mess

Last week was quite a good week for SW in WoW. Last wednesday saw us spend the night learning heroic Yor’sahj.  We refined our cominations, figured out what was healable for us and what wasn’t.  Cats duly noted and changed around his cheat sheet as we made comments and were thrown combinations. Sunday saw Firelands farmed, but I wasn’t there so I cant comment too much on that. However Monday was triumphant.  We started on Heroic Yor’sahj.  Cats had a time limit in mind of 40 minutes from first pull.  Fortunately, his idea of 40 minutes is more like 1 hour 20 mins according to some.  We had a different team to Wednesday, and your truly had to step up and learn the fight as a healer, as opposed to a DPS.  So, there were 3-4 attempts wasted as I figured out where my sweet spot was.  One other thing we found helped out of sight was Cats as DPS going bear and taking the boss blowing his CDs during deep corruption, to save the healers blowing up the tank/letting the tank die due to too many stacks.  This suddenly made the fight seem FIRMLY in our grasp and not too many attempts later, Yor’sahj went down for the count.  There was a great cheer and feeling of satisfaction claimed by many raiders.  Well done guys. 3/8 heroic! We then moved on to clear out Dragon Soul for our second great achievement of the night – Swen’s legendary daggers.  Heroic ultraxion was beyond us (with me learning to heal it and some unfortunate lag spikes causing button clicking fails),...

Heroic Ultraxion is DEADED!

I am very sorry I didn’t post this earlier (ie when it happened) but I have been so very ill recently, getting the time to write something or even raid this week has been interesting.  But, I am back now and hopefully will be able to post more interesting things in the near future.   Well, I read this and I find it interesting, even if no one else does.  Feel free to mock me any time in the comments! This 2 weeks ago update is from our benevolent dictator, Benalis, but I’m hoping one of the guys will write an update for me for this weeks raiding, that I completely missed and am now suffering withdrawals from.  IT’S OK! DON’T PANIC!!! Diablo III starts today! And I had SW:TOR to AFK in keep me company while I looked after my hyperattentive 8 month old. Right, so Sunday [5 May]… Firelands. We killed Beth, and then tried a number of attempts of Heroic Shannox. The important things of note for this encounter are that the dogs don’t stay dead (they get back up at full health 30 seconds after being “killed”), so it’s not worth doing any unnecessary damage on them. Each of the dogs builds up a buff that seriously increases their damage and the only way to drop it is to get them caught in crystal traps and hope it drops off in time. We tried half a dozen or so attempts and were improving (best was Shannox to 34% I believe), and then switched back to normal mode to ensure we cleared the place.  Killed everything up to and...

Heroic Ultraxion to 4%

The heading says it all really. Monday night saw us go in with a full team.  After a few attempts with 3 healers and looking at the DPS requirement, we decided to drop to 2 healers (CL and Mith) with my good self going ret to smash face.  The healers did a bang up job of keeping on top of the healing.  Grats guys that was a wonderful effort for our gear level (below 397 average on the whole). After some testing and poking and prodding, the only thing we were failing at was button pressing to get back into the real realm when Ultraxion sneezes on the raid in the twilight realm.  Flick was having lag issues, and eventually worked out her sweet spot to press the button to make sure her click got through to the server in time.  Once she had that sorted, BAM we started smashing face, and our best attempt for the night was a 4% wipe.  SO CLOSE! Next full team, we got this one guys, we really...

Quick review – new boss attempts on Zonozz

A quick update from our holy priest, Compensator (aka CL)   First up Heroic Morcok. Took a total of 4 attempts for us to get him down. The 3rd attempt was really close, we just lost people in team two as we were approaching the final push. Fourth attempt we downed him scoring healing boot for Brang and a lovely hit/crit caster ring. We then moved onto Heroic Zon’ozz. After 13 attempts we managed to get to the second orb three times I think, so we made small bits of progress and learning how the fight works. A long long way to go yet for us to manage to down that fight as the healing output required in fairly tough while requiring DPS spread over a large number of adds and the boss. As time was then running short we dropped down to normal mode and had a nice lazy kill.Continuing on normal mode so we would have time to finish the fight and do some heroic Ultraxion practise on Monday we went on over to Stitch and downed him easily, though a couple of times the third ooze got quite close.Flying up to fight Halgara I hurried through the portal first and ran to the orb and used my Direbrew’s Remote, before hurrying back to everyone else. Cats zoned in and made his way to the orb and clicked, then took an alternative trip to the Grim Guzzler instead. Commence team speak being filled with laughter. When Cats got back we killed Halgara nice and easily, mixing up our strategy during the lightning phase having the groups go...

And for the first time in a long time…

Heroic Morchok died last night.  I don’t remember a time when Southern Wardens were able to work on Heroic Content within the current patching level, and I have been here on and off for quite a few years.  I was so excited to start working on Heroic modes, and I hope that the team now has the smell of blood in their noses to keep working on Heroics for weeks to come.  It isn’t going to be easy, but I haven’t heard as big a cheer as I heard last night.  It really felt like we were getting somewhere and picking up the pace.  Completeness was definitely up for it, saying she now understood why I was so excited and pushing to do heroic content.  There is nothing quite like it in WoW.  It is SO satisfying.  So with the 15% nerf to the content, we walked Morchok and his friend to the grave with Cats’ 4 healer strat. Mithrya learned the true meaning of having a guild behind him last night, when it was pointed out (publically and for shaming purposes by me after being delegated by Cats’ who was informed by Az) that Mith didn’t have his gear gemmed or enchanted.  We all pulled together and got him gems, mats and buckles from the AH and got his gear as up to scratch as we would in about 20 minutes.  Mith still has a lot of rep grinding to do for his shoulder and head enchants, and raiding can be expensive when you gear up so quickly, but that’s where a guild comes in.  Investing in our...
