Dead: HM Soa, HM Karagga’s Palace, Zorn & Toth

Well, it’s been a busy couple of weeks! Thanks to Uni assignment crunch time your humble correspondent has been a bit slack about posting, so here’s all the news that’s fit to print: First of all, we’re all settling in to our new home on Dalborra, and enjoying the low latency! Sub-50ms latency is a luxury we could definitely get used to. Secondly, progression news! Last week saw our first kill of Soa in hard mode, and this week we followed up by slaughtering our way through Karagga’s Palace on Hard Mode for the first time — all clear in one night! And in the meantime we’re enjoying the new raid zone, Explosive Conflict – despite the chaos of the server move, last week we killed Zorn & Toth for the first time, and we’re looking forward to exploring the rest of Denova soon. And finally, we’re recruiting for 16-mans! We’re definitely after a healer or two and some DPS; if you’re interested, please apply on our forums! We’re also still open for general/social members, so do check us...

Dead: Hard Mode Gharj, Pylons, Council

We’re currently enjoying the last of our Easter break before raiding resumes this week, and looking forward to 1.2 landing within the next couple of weeks. In the meantime, though, I do have some progression to report: before our Easter break, we had a very smooth Hard Mode EV run wherein we consolidated our dispatch of the Annihilation Droid, and Gharj, the Ancient Pylons and the Infernal Council all met their ends for the first time. We had time for a couple of prods at Hard Mode Soa as well, which looks like being a very interesting and challenging fight. No screenshots to display, sadly, as Pylons and Council are unexciting chests, and I seem to have mislaid my HM Gharj kill shot....

Dead: Hard Mode Annihilation Droid XRR-3

For the first time this week we cleared both Eternity Vault and Karagga’s Palace in a single night each, after last week’s Fabricator and Karagga first kills. That left us with nothing to do tonight, Pinky, except trying to take over the world! Ahem. By that, of course, we mean ‘trying hard modes’, although it’s fair to say that hard mode tried us. Still, after an adjustment period involving a lot of dying, we stomped XRR-3’s face in on the last pull of the night, and fun times were had by all. Our first Rakata tokens were for Consulars, which is fortunate as 7/8ths of our raid were Consulars. Do all guilds have this problem, or do we just have a raid full of oven-mitt-lovers? Apologies for the horrible screenshot quality; your humble correspondent is still playing on a 6-year-old machine while her gaming PC is in for...

Karagga’s Palace Clear!

Despite the lack of a progression post last week, we did make progress, in the form of our first kill of Foreman Crusher. We consolidated that this week with a smooth and super-fast Eternity Vault clear on Wednesday – all bosses down in about 90 minutes, which was gratifying – and took some new people in to experience the fun of Karagga’s Palace. We cleared up to and including Foreman Crusher on Sunday night, leaving Monday night as our nominated Heavy Fabricator Clobbering Time. He spent a fair bit of it clobbering us, but eventually he got with the program and obligingly died at our feet. Emboldened by our success, we promptly wiped on trash, true to the Southern Wardens spirit as always. Undaunted, we rallied and went on to see Karagga himself, he of the funny hat and WTF GIANT ROBOT CHAIR. Hutts have all the coolest toys. We spent a couple of attempts trying out different strategies – this ‘coming to new bosses blind’ thing is timeconsuming, but very satisfying – before eventually killing Karagga on the last attempt of the night. Congrats to everybody who’s worked hard over the last few weeks; a few more kills and we’ll have normal mode of all current content comfortably on farm. Up next: hard modes! (This post is lacking screenshots as your humble correspondent’s gaming PC has just died, taking with it my screenshots directory. I’ll post them as soon as it’s back from the shop.) Edit: And now, with...

We’re Moving to Dalborra!

With the advent of Asia Pacific servers and the launch of SWTOR in Australia, NZ, Singapore and Hong Kong, we’re busy making plans to transfer to our new Oceanic home – Dalborra, the first Asia Pacific PvE server. For now, we’ll be continuing to play on The Harbinger, since that’s where our endgame characters currently are. Once server transfers open in late April, we’ll be transferring our Republic guild to Dalborra lock, stock and barrel. We’re currently open for new members on both The Harbinger and Dalborra — if your character was created before February 28th and you plan to transfer, please come and join us on The Harbinger. Otherwise, we invite you to roll new characters with us on Dalborra in preparation for the rest of the guild’s arrival. If you’re not already a Southern Wardens member, please feel free to check out our forums and post a membership application & introduction...
